Blundell’s Prep School has a light, modern, well-resourced DT room, which offers an excellent environment in which the children can be both confident and innovative.
The children are offered opportunities to think creatively about our rapidly changing technologies. Working as individuals and as part of a team, they identify needs, wants and opportunities and respond to them by developing ideas and making products. Through design and technology, the children can become discriminating and informed users of products, and become innovators.
The children use levers and linkages to create storybooks, make textile wallets and prepare sandwich snacks.
The children make gift boxes and sell gingerbread. They create torches and organise a Teddy Bears’ Picnic.
The children construct mini bird hides, make vehicles with alarms and open a pizza restaurant for a day.
The children stitch slippers and construct fairground rides. They plan, prepare and serve food to their parents at the Year 6 BALSA evening.
