At Blundell’s Prep we aim to instil a love of music in all pupils. The children have one hour of class music each week and are invited to join a range of instrumental and singing activities including our popular choir. A wide range of instruments can be learned with our visiting music teachers many of whom link into the senior school.
Music at Blundell's Prep is an integral part of school life. A specialist teaches this subject from year 2 to year 6 within the curriculum. Ten peripatetic teachers visit to teach a wide variety of instruments. These include piano, violin, cello, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, guitar, drums and singing.
All the children sing each week and are encouraged to join our thriving choir in year 4 and above, which numbers over seventy. We also have a girl's choir, boy's choir, string group, wind band, guitar ensemble and recorder club which meet each week.
The children are given many opportunities during the year to perform in concerts within school and the community either as a soloist or in groups.
