Friends of Blundell's Preparatory School

At Blundell’s Prep, we are very fortunate to have a wonderfully supportive ‘Friends of Blundell’s Prep’ Committee. All parents of children at Blundell’s Prep, from Nursery to Year 6, are warmly invited to join the FoBP; whether able to support the many enjoyable events organised throughout the year or taking on the role of Chair, all contributions are greatly appreciated. Visiting entertainerThe committee’s remit is to organise exciting activities for parents and pupils to enjoy, and in doing so, to raise additional funds with which to contribute towards equipment or projects for the direct benefit of the children. In recent years, the FoBP Committee has bought an amazing pirate ship for the Pre-Prep playground, table tennis tables for the Prep children (also enjoyed by the teachers!), a 25 metre zip wire, and most recently, they have helped to make the Prep Library a warm and inviting place for the children to enjoy.

The FoBP Committee organise a number of events throughout the school year. The Autumn Term begins with the Pyjama & Movie night for children in the Prep School and then in November the committee welcomes over 500 people for the fantastic Fireworks Night, certainly a highlight of the year for our families. The Christmas Market sees the whole school community come together as the committee invite external stall holders to join our children (and Father Christmas) in putting together a truly festive occasion.

The Spring Term is focused on events for the children. The Prep School disco, organised by the committee and supported by the teachers, is incredibly popular with those in Years 3 to 6. The Pre-Prep Party sees the children in hysterics, thanks to the efforts of our guest entertainer. Every 3 years, the committee welcomes Happy’s Circus to the grounds of the Prep School as over 500 people gather in the Big Top for a spectacular show.

During the Summer Term, we take full advantage of the marquee in order to host the much-loved Summer Ball. It is a highlight of the school’s social calendar and the FoBP Committee mastermind every aspect. It is not to be missed!

There are regular meetings in school after morning drop off, but it is understood that not all members of the committee will be able to attend every meeting. There is the opportunity to contribute as a member of the sub-committee, which may involve helping out at the a number of events throughout the year or in any way that you can, but all contributions are greatly valued, whether you are manning a stall at the Christmas Market, shopping for treats to be enjoyed at the disco or helping Santa to deliver his presents. As you might expect, all of these events require some element of preparation and a degree of clearing up, so another pair of hands is always most welcome!
