Matilda Kolowska dominated the competition with a qualifying win in the 85cm, 10th in the 90cm, and 8th in the 1m. Archie Guinness was runner up in the 85cm, so they have both qualified for the UK finals at Hickstead.

Congratulations to them both.

NSEA UK Championships, Keysoe 19th-21st Oct 2018

In the 70cm JWS the team of Harry, Hattie, Jess & Lucy finished in a very respectable 16th place as it was a very tough course, but all of them loved the experience.

In the 80cm our SJ team were 24th, Hattie jumped clear and James, Molly and Lara each had a pole. In the Arena Eventing JWS the team just missed out on a prize by 10 points, with Molly and Scarlet both going clear, finishing 14th.

It was a great experience for our junior riders and lots of fun was had by all.

NSEA Arena Eventing, Bicton 7th Oct 2018

Bicton, 7th October 2018Bicton NSEA qualifier at Bicton on Sunday was a big reminder it's not always about the win!

The youngest riders, Bea Morrison, Ruby Weatherall, Jess Barnes, Harry Clarkson and Maya Corbin, all tackled the toughest 70cm track Mrs Batting has seen in some time. With few riders from any school completing, they ALL rode with guts and determination. Whilst there were no ribbons, but bruises and disappointment instead, they were all able to find a smile for the team photo at the end – even if they had to wait a while for one rider to be released from the ambulance, so all four could be in the photo!

Special mention to James Clarkson and Molly Joyner who both had a great day, going clear in both these classes and picking up 9th and 10th place individually in addition.

Good luck to all the competitors representing Blundell’s at the UK Championships over half term.

NSEA Eventers Challenge Championships, Hickstead 9th/10th June 2018

Hickstead

HicksteadA swelteringly hot weekend was spent at Hickstead for the NSEA eventers challenge champs with the Blundell’s teams. A lovely arena eventing course - lots of twists and turns and up hills and down and through a water splash. The young Arena eventing 90 Team (all below 14) consisted of Rachael Brown, Mattie Kolowska, Scarlet Vaux and Molly Joyner who did amazingly well to finish 5th out of 40 teams from across the UK. The 70 team of only 3 did really well to finish 16th in the country, Hattie Barnes, Archie Guinness, Lucy Vaux.

A few poles rolled between the team in the 100-105 m but only 4 clears in the whole class, Scarlet doing an outstanding performance on her scopey pony to finish up 8th individually. Archie Guinness was also placed 8th individually in the 80 Arena Eventing Class. All in all a great weekend for the Blundell’s Teams. We will all be really sad to see Scarlet, Rachael and Lucy's, departure. They have all been key riders in the Blundell’s School teams for a number of years.

Mattie Kolowska

Bicton NSEA Bury Farm Qualifier Saturday 17th March 2018

In the 80cm, the team of Molly Clayton, Archie Guinness & Scarlett Vaux came 3rd.

In the 90cm Scarlett Vaux 5th individually and went on to produce a cracking round to be 2nd in the 1m individual - a significant achievement given that she was competing against much older riders.

NSEA Eventers Challenge, Kings Sedgmoor Saturday 6th January 2018

NSEA Eventers ChallengeIt might have been titled the Eventers Challenge, but it was more like an Artic Endurance Challenge! If the weather wasn’t bad enough, the event overran late into the evening, with just a hardy team of three sticking with it to compete for Blundell’s.

Whilst just missing out on a top placing, Molly Joyner, Mattie Kolowska and Oscar Kolowski certainly deserved a prize for dedication! Well done for staying to compete in the dark!

National Schools’ Champions

The Blundell’s team of Polly, Georgia, Bird and Archie took the number one spot in the inaugural NSEA National Eventer Challenge Final, where 21 teams and over 100 young eventers had qualified from all over the country to compete for the title at Hickstead, West Sussex. The long and technical track caused problems all over but the team produced clear rounds and individual placings of Polly 2nd, Bird 3rd and Georgia 5th to make the team unbeatable.

The Eventers’ Challenge was the pinnacle of two days of competition at the famous All England Jumping Course, where Blundell’s was represented by a number of other young riders all keen to make their mark on the national circuit.

Other notable successes were a win in the metre jumping with style where Georgia took 1st place individually and she and the team qualified for the NSEA Championships at Addington in October.

Bird Wood

Many congratulations to Bird Wood, riding Del Piero, produced a stunning double clear in the Junior FEI Nations Cup in Waregem, Belgium. Achieving 4th place individually, best British rider and was pivotal in helping to secure a team Silver medal. This is a superb performance and certainly bodes well for further GBR representation for Eventing in the future.

Blundell’s ODE at Bicton Sunday 24th September 2017

Yet again the weather was kind and over 160 competitors, from schools across the South West, enjoyed a busy day of competition, supported by over 100 officials and helpers.

The 70cm Class saw Blundells bring home 4th as a team, with Lucy Vaux securing 5th individual.

Molly Joyner, Scarlett Vaux, Archie Guinness and Mattie kolowska just missed 1st place, but were worthy runners up as 2nd place team in the 80cm. Molly 2nd place individually, with Archie 7th and Scarlett 8th.

Ivybridge Community College Team put in stunning performances to win both the 70cm & 80cm classes.

In the 90cm, Uffculme won the team class for a 2nd year running, with Blundells team of Rachel Brown, flic Charlesworth, Scarlett Vaux and Josh Brown 3rd. Rachel was also 3rd individual and best Blundellian, with Josh 6th and Flic 7th individually.

In the Open class, Georgia Wood put in a stunning performance, finishing on her dressage to secure the individual win and help secure a Blundell’s team win with Hannah Kidner, Polly Muirhead & Oscar Kolowski against tough competition from Wellington and Sherborne.

Thanks to all the staff, parents, pupils and ODE committee for helping to ensure the event was a great success.

Bicton NSEA SJ Qualifier 10th September 2017

Blundell's fielded teams in every class and proved very effective gaining prizes across all heights! The 70cm team started the day well winning their class, with the 1m team continuing this excellence by winning theirs and Rachel Brown individual winner. The competition was left in no doubt about the ability of our Blundellians when Georgia Wood secured a very impressive win in the elite 1.10m class.

A great day for Blundell's with numerous additional qualifications for the UK final at Addington to add to our list.
