Anything is possible
Prep
Children join the Prep in Year 3 and are primarily class taught but with specialists for French, Music, Drama, Design Technology, Art, PE and Games. The days are a little longer than the Pre-Prep, finishing at 4.30pm, with an exciting array of clubs then available until 5.30pm (6pm if staying for Late Prep). In Year 4, the children continue to have a class teacher, who will be their first port of call during the day and who will take them for English, Maths and Humanities. We want the children to feel a sense of independence and so further specialists are introduced, with children starting to move around the school a little more. |
In Year 5, the model intentionally shifts again, with class teachers taking English and Maths only. When children enter their final year at the Prep, they have a form tutor, with whom they meet daily, but they are specialist taught across all subjects and move between classrooms within the Prep building, replicating what they will experience when they move into Year 7 and their first year of secondary school. |
NancyYear 6 Nancy joined the school in Year 2 and from the very first moment she arrived, threw herself wholeheartedly into all that was on offer. Nancy loves to write, and her passion has been encouraged through specialist lessons, enrichment opportunities and a curriculum that puts creative writing as a priority. Away from the classroom, Nancy sings in the Choral Choir, plays the clarinet and piano, and loves to compete in hockey and netball, as well as taking on the duties and enjoying the privileges that are part of her final year at the Prep. In Year 6, Nancy was invited to be Head Girl for the Autumn Term, a role that she took on with her customary smile and humility. When our Summer Speech Day arrived, Nancy stood up in front of over 500 people to share her school experience. When asked how she would sum up her time at the Prep, Nancy replied: “I have loved it!” |
