Our musicians are performing at increasingly high levels and this year all four of our entered chamber groups qualified for the semi-final of the Pro Corda National Chamber Music competition. We are excited and delighted to announce that the Telemann Octet, our sixth form group, have qualified for the final. They competed against 57 other ensembles to achieve this amazing honour and will travel up to London on Sunday March 17th to compete in this incredibly prestigious national final, playing Sally Beamish’s ‘Opus California’.
Coached by Mr Daly, the chamber groups consist of between four and eight players for each year group or section and they work on challenging and exciting repertoire that develops their musicianship, teamwork, creativity, and performance skills. The chamber music programme, introduced by Dr Leaman, is going from strength to strength and we look forward to the advanced music making of these pupils for some years to come, both internally in concerts and also on the national stage.
Well done Jemima, Maria, Daisy, Finn, Chester, Amelia, Jack and Guy! We will wait to see how they got on against the competitors from, amongst others, Charterhouse, Westminster School and the Perse School.
