Earlier this term, the U16 girls hockey team entered the national plate competition with an emphatic win against Claymore School. The side, captained by Lucy and Millie, is made up of an even balance of talented Year 10 and 11 girls.
Despite not regularly training together, the girls have been playing brilliantly as a team and the Claysmore fixture was an outstanding example of their positivity and hard work. Linking play and transitioning the ball out of areas of congestion into space saw the side dominate from the first whistle. The dominant attacking performance saw the team camped out in the opposition half for the majority of the game with any counter-attacking play quickly shut down by our strong defence. Despite an outstanding opposition keeper, the Blundell’s girls were able to put seven goals on the board, with no goals conceded.
The team now look forward to their final group fixture against Cheltenham Ladies College, taking place on Tuesday 6th December.
