House Music is always a highlight of the first half of term, and this year was no exception. The pupils put in a tremendous effort, delivering an afternoon of entertaining and spirited music-making. The event began with outstanding performances from the six winners of the solo competition heats held earlier in the week. Following this, each house took turns presenting their ensemble performances, immediately followed by their House Songs, all performed with enthusiasm and a great sense of fun.
Among the standout moments was Reuben's (Year 12, Old House) vocal performance, earning him the Solo Performance Trophy, as adjudicated by Mr. Daly, who coaches the school’s music scholars’ chamber ensembles. Nico (Year 13, Westlake) impressed the audience with a superb electric guitar solo, winning the Best Individual Contribution award. North Close claimed the House Ensemble Trophy with an impressive Year 11 vocal quartet and piano performance by Ella, Freya, Iris, and Ginevra.
The House Song Trophy was awarded to Old House for their lively rendition of "Build Me Up Buttercup," featuring a creative split of the house into two groups, with Will (Year 12) and Finn (Year 12) adding a playful touch as a dancing duo.
Ultimately, the overall winning house for their combined performances was Old House. Congratulations to their music captains, Reuben and Henry, for their dedication and hard work. A special thanks to the judging panel: Mr. Radley, Mrs. Cox, and Mr. Hart.
Well done to all the pupils for embracing the spirit of the event and putting on a thoroughly enjoyable show!
