Boarding at Blundell's
Each House consists of boarders (full, weekly & flexi) and day pupils and the academic tutoring system operates under the guidance of the House Parent.
All pupils at Blundell’s are assigned to a House. We are committed to the boarding ethos here at Blundell’s. Founded in 1604 we are a school with a long tradition of drawing pupils from the West Country and further afield including a range of other countries. This boarding ethos underpins all aspects of school life.
Blundellians have a natural progression through the Boarding Houses, from laying down their roots in the warm and positive Co-ed environment of School House (Years 7 & 8), to the more mature and self-driven Co-ed world of Westlake (Year 13), where they prepare for life beyond Blundell’s. The years in between are spent in the two girls’ houses (Gorton House & North Close) and the three boys’ houses (Francis House, Old House & Petergate). New pupils are welcomed, particularly at 13+ and 16+, as the 60 in Year 7 swells to over 100 in each of the Sixth Form year groups.
