At what age can students start boarding? |
Boarding is available for students aged 11 and above. Students aged 11 to 13 are accommodated in School House, a dedicated co-educational house for younger pupils. From Year 9 (ages 13-17), students move into single-sex houses, and in their final year (Year 13, ages 17-18), all pupils come together in Westlake, a co-educational boarding house. |
How are the boarding houses structured? |
Blundell's has a house system where all pupils are assigned to a boarding house. Each house consists of boarders (full, weekly, and flexi) and day pupils. The houses are:

Each boarding house is led by a Housemaster or Housemistress who is central to the life of pupils in their house. They are supported by a team of tutors and matrons. Boarders have access to a range of facilities, including well-equipped kitchens in each house for preparing snacks outside regular dining hours. The school also offers extensive sports facilities, a music school with state-of-the-art recording facilities, and dedicated spaces for drama art. |
What activities are availabele for boarders during weekends? |
Blundell's offers a variety of opportunities, events, and trips for boarders. These include BBQs, quiz evenings, outdoor games and activities, surfing trips, and excursions to the South West's best towns and cities. The aim is to ensure that pupils make the most of their time as boarders and enjoy a rich and fulfilling experience. |
