Last term, the Clay Pigeon Shooting team travelled to Mendip for a friendly fixture against Sherborne. Although Sherborne emerged victorious, the match provided an excellent opportunity for the team to gain experience ahead of the upcoming National Championships.

Jasper led the team with an impressive score of 38 out of 50, the highest of the day. Bella, in Year 10, shot a superb 33, while Evelyn, in Year 9, made a strong debut in her first-ever competition with a score of 27. The team demonstrated great focus and teamwork throughout the day, making it a promising step towards future competitions.

Later in the term, the team competed in the Browning Independent Schools Cup, held at Ian Coley’s Shooting Ground – an outstanding venue for this national-level event hosted by Cheltenham. Blundell’s faced tough competition from some of the top schools in the country, including Millfield, Cheltenham, Bloxham, Rugby, and Strathallan.

Blundell’s A team finished 11th out of 35 teams, an encouraging result given the limited training time. Dan and Wilf both scored 35, although Dan was unlucky to have at least one broken clay not counted by a referee. Tom finished with a solid 28, while Boris scored 27.

Blundell’s B team also showed consistency, with Bella and Jasper  both scoring 27. Evelyn continued her strong form, scoring 23 in what was a particularly challenging competition, with some targets proving to be especially difficult.

Despite the long journey, it was a thoroughly enjoyable day for the team, who gained valuable experience and enjoyed the camaraderie with other schools. A great effort all round – well done to everyone involved.
