A Blundell's Education

Blundell’s Prep is a Co-Educational Day school for children aged Rising 3 to 11 and our key aim is to provide the perfect environment to enable each child to develop his or her all-round potential.

As well as the full range of academic subjects, we believe that practical, artistic and physical experiences provide the essential ingredients of a truly outstanding education. Learning is not the same for every child and at Blundell’s Prep we recognise that in educational terms, one size does, most certainly, not fit all.

While our classrooms provide wonderful resources for teaching, we know that by changing the learning environment we are promoting engagement and giving every child the chance to deepen their understanding. We do this through the use of our extensive school campus, not just through outdoor learning days but by using the outdoors as part of a child’s everyday learning experience.

Our vibrant Pre-Prep offers an exceptional education in a safe, secure, colourful and nurturing environment. The joy of learning and the excitement of childhood exploration are celebrated in a warm, caring, family atmosphere with a great emphasis is placed on every child wanting to come to school every day. We view your child’s education as a partnership and our experienced teachers and teaching assistants are always on hand for the children and parents.

We want every child to feel that they belong here and the school’s motto ‘Non Sibi’ encourages values of courtesy, kindness and selflessness which combine to create a very special atmosphere. Our dedicated team of teachers are passionate about providing the best for every child and we pride ourselves on the strength of relationships that exist between pupils, teachers and parents. We welcome open communications and a strong partnership with our families, all of whom are invited to attend a wide variety of events including informal tea concerts, dramatic productions, sports events, assemblies and learning showcases. Through small form groups led by experienced teachers, we offer time for children to be children, with the knowledge that they have someone to turn to whenever they need help or guidance. A strong focus on positive relationships and a commitment to developing reflective mindsets ensures that children feel able to share any concerns with the people around them. The children at Blundell’s Pre-Prep are happy children and that shines through in everything that they do.

The Prep School takes pupils from 7 to 11 years and is situated on the eastern side of the car park. Children in Year 3 are predominantly class taught although specialist teaching in French, Computing, Music, Design Technology, Food Technology and Games means that the children will move around the school to different teachers for different subjects. This is gradually increased as children move into Year 4 and this is when setting in English and Maths is introduced and subject specialisms are further developed. In Year 5 the children are typically split into 3 forms, allowing for greater individualised support in the core subjects, and this then continues into Year 6.
