Academic Music is thriving at Blundell’s, with over 25% of pupils studying Music at GCSE, way above the national average. The same is true at A-level, where students choose either Music or Music Technology, or indeed both. Results are very impressive, with students achieving considerably above national and school averages.
We embrace all types of music from ancient to contemporary, classical to popular, acoustic to electronic. Fun and enjoyment go alongside exceptional musicianship and tuition.
The team of 32 in the Music Department, including an expert group of Visiting Music Teachers, have celebrated a number of recent highlights, including:
- Performances at venues as impressive as Carnegie Hall, New York.
- An ongoing 6-year collaboration with the London Chamber Orchestra
- Reaching the finals of the Barnardo’s National Choral Competition
- Sell-out concerts and musical theatre productions, including recently Appalachian Spring, A Time to Dance, Into the Woods, Peter and the Wolf, Carnival of the Animals and Duruflé’s Requiem.
