KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Karl Hopwood
Karl Hopwood is an independent online safety expert. He is a member of UKCIS (UK Council for Internet Safety) and sits on the UKCIS evidence group, education working group and the early warning group as well as on the advisory board for the UK Safer Internet Centre. He also sits on the Roblox trust and safety board where he represents the Insafe network. He was recently part of an expert steering group with TikTok looking at harmful and dangerous online challenges and regularly contributes to content for Internet Matters.

Alicia Drummond
Alicia is a BACP accredited therapist, parenting expert, sought after keynote speaker, member of the All Party Parliamentary Group for a Fit and Healthy Childhood, author and a mother. Alicia is passionate about providing evidence-based advice to parents, teachers and all those looking after children and young people, so they can be proactive in supporting the mental health and wellbeing of those in their care. Alicia also works directly with children and young people empowering them to look after their own mental health and wellbeing. She draws on the latest research from psychotherapy, psychology, and neuroscience, along with her experience of working as an adolescent therapist.

Isa Robinson
Isa Robinson is registered nutritionist (RNutr), Nutritional Therapist (mBANT) and certified Intuitive eating counsellor. She runs the virtual private practice Isa Robinson Nutrition, a team of registered nutritionists and dietitians specialising in weight inclusive approaches to eating disorder recovery, disordered eating, intuitive eating and healing from chronic dieting. Alongside this, Isa has worked in several of London’s leading mental health clinics alongside teams of psychologists and psychiatrists.

Voicebox
Voicebox run drama-based workshops, assemblies & projects that promote healthy masculinity with young people, giving them the tools to live happy, healthy and fulfilled lives. Voicebox have worked with over 14,000 students, 85 schools and organizations and delivered over 550 workshops and assemblies to challenge unhealthy masculinity and promote healthy masculinity, for healthier schools and a healthier society.

WORKSHOP INFORMATION

Option 1: Karl Hopwood – “Workable Solutions to Digital Problems”
This workshop will look at the issued raised in Karl’s Keynote talk in more detail and will include discussion and practical tips on how to address some of the issues raised.

Option 2: Alicia Drummond – “Raising Emotional Regulation”
This workshop considers how we develop emotional regulation, why it is important for wellbeing, factors that impact our ability to self-regulate, and what we can do to build emotional awareness and self-management.

Option 3: Voicebox – “Promoting Healthy Masculinity with Adolescents”
This workshop will explore the impact of unhealthy masculinity on adolescent boys, and those in their communities, and how to promote healthy masculinity.

Option 4: Isa Robinson – “Supporting Healthy Relationships with Food and Body Image”
This workshop will include practical tips, case studies and advice on when challenging situations arise, as well as plenty of time for a Q&A. The overall aim is to leave you feeling more empowered and equipped in supporting young people to foster a “healthy” relationship with food and body image to free up space for their flourishing albeit in academics, drama, sport, friendships or other talents, hobbies and pursuits.

Blundell’s is ideally situated, with Junction 27 of the M5 and Tiverton Parkway mainline railway station being just 6 minutes away. The historic city of Exeter is 25 minutes away and the school is surrounded by the green and lush hills of mid-Devon.

Exciting Leadership Update: Chris Filbey Appointed as Second Master from September 2025

Chris Filbey, the new Second Master to take over from Matt Radley in September 2025. Chris is currently an Assistant Head at Epsom College where he was previously a Housemaster. Before that he was Head of Modern Languages at Haileybury. I look forward to working with Chris and we will introduce him to the wider Blundell’s community in due course.

STEM Week Sparks Innovation and Collaboration at Prep School

During this Autumn Term, our Drama Scholars delivered an impressive Autumn Showcase featuring their examination pieces. The performances spanned Restoration Comedy, Comedy of Manners, Musical Theatre, contemporary works, and original material.

The evening highlighted the scholars’ talent, creativity, and dedication, showcasing the high standard of drama at Blundell’s. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and look forward to seeing their continued growth.

House Music 2024

House Music was a highlight of the term, with standout performances from Reuben (Old House) winning the Solo Performance Trophy and Nico (Westlake) earning Best Individual Contribution. North Close won the Ensemble Trophy, and Old House claimed both the House Song and overall titles. Pupils were praised for their energy and effort throughout the event.

Blundell’s School pupils achieve outstanding A level results 2024

This season has been a remarkable journey for both the Blundell’s Bulls and Bulldogs basketball teams. The Bulls dominated the league, securing seven consecutive victories with impressive margins against strong opponents. Meanwhile, the inaugural season of the Bulldogs Girls Basketball Team has been equally inspiring. From humble beginnings with just a few eager players, the team has grown into a spirited group of nine.
