Foyle Young Poet of the Year

Congratulations to Freya in Year 13, who has won the Foyle Young Poet of the Year award for her work, which is called 'rugby poem'. There are 15 winners and 85 commended poets for 2023, with over 15,800 entries this year.

Freya took part in an awards ceremony in London, reading her poem in front of judges and a packed theatre. Freya received various prizes (books, 'goody bag', publication in the anthology, a year's youth membership of the Poetry Society) and a place on an Arvon centre writing course with other winners.

Freya will also receive ongoing mentorship from The Poetry Society, including publication, performance, and the opportunity to apply to their internship programme.

A fantastic achievement, well done Freya!
